Terms of Service

Rivl Homes (rivl.africa) is operated by RIVL TECHNOLOGIES LTD. Rivl Homes is a technology platform that lets renters add the home they live in, set what they want next, and connect when a matching home is about to open. Rivl does not buy, sell, or let property. Rivl is not a real estate agency, broker, dealer, employer, or representative of either party.

If you use Rivl Homes, you add the home you live in (My Home), set what you want next (Next Home), and may connect when Find shows a matching home that is about to open. Rivl does not guarantee availability, pricing, property condition, legal title, or suitability of any home.

You are responsible for your own due diligence, viewings, contracts, and payments. Any agreement you enter is directly between you and the other party — not with Rivl.

When you add your home and confirm you are leaving, Rivl may connect you with a seeker who is ready to take over. Two weeks before your confirmed move-out date, if the home is still available, your move-out date has not changed in a way that closes the window, the handoff is still open, and you are still confirmed as leaving, the connected seeker may pay Rivl Connect.

After that payment, Rivl can share your contact information and exact home location with that connected seeker so you can coordinate the physical handoff. You can change your move-out date or close the handoff at any time before payment unlocks contact details.

Exact location and phone numbers stay private until Rivl Connect is paid. Rivl does not silently unlock contact without those conditions being met.

Rivl Connect refunds follow rivl.africa/refunds: Rivl refunds when it cannot deliver the connection, not when parties choose not to complete the move.

Homes shown in Rivl belong to everyday renters. Photos, descriptions, and timing (including upcoming moving dates) are shown in the apps so you can decide whether to connect — not so they can be copied out of Rivl.

Rivl uses technical measures in the iOS and Android apps to block screenshots, screen recordings, and screen mirroring of listing content, including Find cards and home detail. You agree not to capture, record, copy, or redistribute another renter’s listing, and not to circumvent those protections. Attempting to do so may show an in-app notice and may lead to suspension under the Acceptable Use Policy at rivl.africa/acceptable-use.

Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, employment, franchise, or agency relationship between Rivl and any user. Rivl does not practise real estate agency, negotiate leases on your behalf, hold deposits, inspect properties, or provide legal, financial, or property advice.

Rivl is not a licensed real estate agency under the Real Estate Agency Act, 2020 (Act 1047). If you are a property professional, you remain solely responsible for any licence, registration, or authorisation the law requires of you. Rivl does not hold a broker licence on anyone’s behalf.

Rivl Homes labels geographic areas associated with homes (for example, neighbourhood or district names shown in Find and on your home profile) using Rivl’s in-house place and district indexes. Those indexes are built from offline administrative and gazetteer data; Rivl operations may correct or refine labels for quality.

Place-name hints in those indexes include data from GeoNames (https://www.geonames.org/), used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 License (CC BY 4.0).

Rivl’s own coordinates, H3 geographic cells, and verified building geometry remain Rivl’s source of truth. Third-party gazetteer data is used for human-readable area names only, not for pin placement or building outlines.

You agree not to misuse the platform — including adding a home you do not live in, misrepresenting availability, spam, harassment, capturing or redistributing listing content, or attempts to circumvent Rivl’s systems (including screenshot, recording, and mirroring protections). We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these Terms or applicable law. The full Acceptable Use Policy is published at rivl.africa/acceptable-use.

The platform is provided on an "as is" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Rivl disclaims warranties regarding matches, outcomes, or uninterrupted service. Rivl is not liable for disputes, losses, scams, or damages arising from interactions or transactions between users.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Rivl after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
